WHERE WERE YOU ON THE MORNING OF SEPTEMBER 11TH?

The September 11 attacks, often referred to as 9/11, were a series of four coordinated terrorist attacks by the militant Islamist terrorist group al-Qaeda against the United States of America on the morning of Tuesday, September 11, 2001.

I was at work at URS, the construction management company that oversaw the building of Millennium Park. It was located right across the street from City Hall in downtown Chicago. After it happened, downtown was evacuated and it was like a ghost town. People were horrified that maybe City Hall or the Sears Tower would be next. People were running through the streets of downtown looking up in the air, fearing airplanes flying overhead. I didn’t feel safe until I was HOME!

WHERE WERE YOU ON THAT FATEFUL DAY?

  1. I was getting ready for work. The morning news was on when all of a sudden I saw a plane flying extremely low crashing directly into one of the twin towers in New York City and explode. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I immediately thought of my son who was working in a high-rise building in the Chicago loop. So, I called him and told him, not asked him to get out of that building as fast as he can. I feared that there might be another attack on all high-rises in other big cities including Chicago. I was horrified and filled with much disbelief. Thankfully there was not an attack in Chicago. Unfortunately, there was another attack on the second twin tower in New York.
